Tá an gheallúint a tugadh i gClár an Rialtais nua maidir le tacaíocht bhreise a thabhairt don Ghaeilge bunaithe ar an dtuiscint go dtabharfar chun críche, agus go gcuirfear i bhfeidhm, polasaí oideachais nua don Ghaeltacht.

Ba é an tAire Oideachais nua Richard Bruton a thug an méid sin le fios agus ceist Dála á freagairt aige faoina bhfuil i ndán do na moltaí oideachais don Ghaeltacht a foilsíodh bliain ó shin.

Cuireadh fáilte roimh na moltaí a thugann aghaidh ar chuid de na dúshláin is mó atá roimh theagasc na Gaeilge sna ceantair ina bhfuil sí fós in uachtar mar theanga phobail, ach bhíothas buartha le tamall toisc nach raibh an polasaí nua féin foilsithe mar a bhí geallta.

Cuirfear fáilte mar sin roimh an scéal go bhfuil an tAire Bruton ag súil go bpléifidh an Rialtas dréacht den pholasaí sna seachtainí beaga amach romhainn.

“I am awaiting the draft policy document and will consider it along with my colleagues in Government before it can be approved. I expect that this will happen in the coming weeks before our summer recess,” a dúirt Bruton.

Dúirt an tAire go raibh an polasaí nua ina dhlúthchuid d’obair a Roinne ar an Straitéis 20 Bliain don Ghaeilge agus go raibh na moltaí oideachais i gceist chomh maith sa gheallúint a tugadh i gClár an Rialtais nua maidir le tacaíocht bhreise a thabhairt don Ghaeilge.

“The Programme for Government contains a commitment to strengthen support for the Irish language. This commitment was made in anticipation of the finalisation and thereafter the implementation of the Gaeltacht Education policy,” a dúirt Bruton.

Ba í an Teachta Dála de chuid an Chomhaontais Ghlais, Catherine Martin a chuir ceist ar an Aire Oideachais faoin dréachtpholasaí oideachais.
